Job Description 

Video/IP Network System Field Engineers are responsible for the implementation, deployment, and testing of Mutualink’s Interoperable Multimedia System with successful integration of public safety video, access control, radio and telephone systems.  The ideal candidate will also have substantial experience and demonstrable success interfacing with customers.  The position requires domestic travel.  Experience designing, installing, and maintaining public safety video systems is a prerequisite.

 

Required Skills/Qualifications

Video

  • Experience and working knowledge of video (digital video systems, video compression technology, MPEG2. MPEG4, transcoding)
  • Suggest improvements to existing systems, design, install and test new solutions and equipment
  • Strong knowledge of encoding standards (H.264, AAC, GOP structure, I-P-B-frame schemes, profiles, bit-rates, aspect ratios)
  • Strong knowledge of video content management systems (video CMS) and video players
  • Familiarity with video inputs – HDMI, component, composite, S-video, and VGA

IP Network

  • Five years+ experience designing and deploying IP Networks
  • Good working knowledge of IP networking, especially IP VPN networks (including ONVIG, MPLS, IP SEC tunneling, multicasting, PIM Sparse Mode, QoS, DiffServ protocol, VPN/tunnel terminations, routers, servers and firewalls)
  • Experience with setting up/configuring routers, servers, firewalls
  • Working knowledge of IP networks and Linux systems (VoIP a plus)
  • Working knowledge of TDM, DSL, RS232, V.35, T1/T3
  • Working knowledge of setting up IP VPN tunnels through existing network connections (regardless of ISP)
  • IP Networking, IT and/or Cisco certifications is a plus

General

  • Ability to quickly grasp new products and technologies
  • LMR radio experience a plus
  • Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot RF, Network and System problems
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • FCC and APCO Certifications a plus
  • 4-year college degree is preferred
  • Military or Public Safety experience preferred
  • Customer service skills (friendly, responsive, and helpful)
  • Willing and able to travel 75%+ (Passport required)
  • Self-Starter needs little supervision
  • Willing to work closely with sales, support, and engineering personnel
