Mutualink’s Infrastructure Engineering Team is seeking a talented Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join us. Our mission is to work collaboratively with Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Customer Support to deliver, monitor, and maintain Mutualink’s products and services. This is a technical leadership role for a critical set of products that enable Mutualink customers to collaborate and share data to enhance public safety.

About the Infrastructure Engineering Team: 

We are a close-knit group charged with expanding and maintaining both the company’s datacenter and AWS cloud presence. We work with a wide variety of software and hardware components, including cloud and on-premise services and hardware, virtualization technologies, network, security and failover tools and solutions. The team strives to provide a resilient, cost effective and secure set of solutions that fill a critical public safety need for our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise and research infrastructure aspects of product development and initiatives
  • Work with Field and Customer Support and teams to address installation or operational issues and hand off processes and procedures for continued operations
  • Collaborate through organizing and attending meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop automation to install, update and maintain cloud and on-prem systems
  • Work with SRE to develop and provide end to end monitoring, create custom dashboards, alerting and tuning
  • Develop and document requirements for new services, engaging in iterative development on infrastructure and applications, and integrating services in the live environment
  • Evaluate and select modern technologies to build and automate solutions for Mutualink services
  • Work with other members of the Infrastructure and Development teams to hand off products and processes to QA and Manufacturing
  • Troubleshooting complex issues through analysis of log, packet captures, etc.

Required Skills:

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong background in AWS architecture, profile/credential usage, and services, particularly EC2, S3, Route53, Secrets Manager, Lambda, RDS, IAM, SNS, IoT Core
  • SSL/TLS expertise: certificate creation, openssl command usage, troubleshooting
  • Command line fluency: awscli, bash
  • Strong understanding of microservices in Docker: compose and service configuration, secrets
  • Git source control, merges/conflict, pipelines
  • Experience with various deployment strategies (e.g. blue/green, canary, rolling, etc.)
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Ansible Galaxy and Terraform

Technologies and Languages:

  • Terraform: AWS service creation, null/archive providers
  • Ansible: playbooks, roles, inventory, customization, modules, filters
  • Python3: module creation, error handling, classes, code analysis, debugging
  • Nginx configuration and troubleshooting
  • Bash or similar OS-level scripting
  • JSON and YAML structure, usage, creation, data extraction using tools such as jq
  • Python and Golang experience

  • Rundeck automation platform (or similar)
  • Prometheus agents: node exporter, cAdvisor
  • Debian packaging, particularly with tools such as nfpm
  • SSH tunneling
  • VMWare
  • Extension of tools, such as Terraform external data providers
  • NodeJS code analysis and debugging
  • GNU makefile creation, modification, troubleshooting

Compensation:  

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package (Health, Vision, Dental and Group Life Insurance, 401K Plan & Match, PTO, and Holiday Pay), a great team to work with and a mission that you can be part of that will absolutely make a difference. This position offers a fixed annual base salary. The annual salary range for this position is $145,000-$160,000 based on an individual’s overall qualifications, experience, skill level, geography, expertise, and education/training at time of hire. Promotional and advancement opportunities are available to reach top pay. This pay range can be modified at any time at the sole discretion of the Company.
