FirstNet Public Safety LTE Gains Momentum
Broomfield, CO - Even a year ago, FirstNet still seemed largely theoretical as it went through the planning process. But, with the agency having released its request for proposal in January, and expecting to make an award of its $6.5 billion for the design and construction of the network in early November, the focus of vendors has sharpened considerably even if they don't plan to bid for the overall contract. That new level of interest and expectation, and new energy around the practicalities of a separate wireless broadband network for public safety, was evident at last week's International Wireless Communications Expo in Las Vegas.

NY Responds Initiative Advances to Phase Two

The rollout and integration of Mutualink into the NY Responds common operating picture will begin in 2016
Albany, NY – Governor Cuomo announced the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Emergency Management has completed the Phase One rollout of NY Responds, the State’s new approach to disaster response and recovery. With the completion of Phase One, county emergency management agencies can now connect with the New York State Emergency Operations Center in Albany to improve coordination and cooperation during a disaster or emergency. “NY Responds is transforming and strengthening the way this state responds to disasters and other emergency situations,” Governor Cuomo said. “This new approach is key in executing a coordinated response which helps communities stay better informed when an emergency situation occurs and recover more quickly.”
2014 National Emergency Communications Plan
The 2014 National Emergency Communications Plan (NECP) provides information and guidance to those that plan for, coordinate, invest in, and use operable and interoperable communications for response and recovery operations. First Responders Get Instant Link to School Communications
Governor Cuomo announced the launch of a new school safety pilot program, Mutualink K-12, which will roll out in 20 public schools in Oneida and Rockland counties later this month.
