Preventing active shooters in schools: Mutualink, Inc., a software company that has developed a communications platform to connect first responders and local police to school districts, has joined the ZeroNow alliance dedicated to driving ideas, innovation, and investment in advancing school safety.

WASHINGTON DC, May 01, 2022 – ZeroNow, a nonprofit dedicated to driving ideas, innovation, and investment in advancing school safety, announced today that Mutualink, Inc. has joined its alliance. Mutualink is a software company that has developed a communications platform to connect first responders and local police to school districts.

“We’re so pleased that Mutualink is bringing its expertise in cross-agency communication to the ZeroNow team,” said ZeroNow Founder and Board President Ara Bagdasarian. “The Mutualink platform enables public safety agencies and enterprise security to share voice, video and data. The ZeroNow alliance is also all about open and continuous communication – idea and information sharing between stakeholders in the safetymovement that advances us toward our goal of keeping schools secure.”

Mutualink builds communication systems that can head off or defuse an emergency. An interoperable radio communications system that easily interfaces with local police and first responders can be the deciding factor in the outcome of an urgent situation in schools and beyond. Real-time connections help school districts provide a safe and stable environment for students and staff.

“Making schools safer can’t be accomplished by just one person, company or entity,” said Mutualink Director of K-12 Solutions Jeff Kelly. “Sharing information on the opportunities and challenges faced by law enforcement, educators and technology companies can move the ball forward. We at Mutualink are eager to contribute to the successes of the ZeroNow alliance.”

ZeroNow was founded by technology partners Additional, Axis Communications, Johnson Controls, Omnilert and Telos Corporation, along with campus safety nonprofit partners the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), NASPA (the Association of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education), Campus Safety Magazine, and VTV Family Outreach Foundation.
