If Your Security System and Communications Aren’t Shareable, How Can They Help You? | Campus Safety Magazine

Mutualink’s LNK360 hybrid cloud platform seamlessly integrates your existing security products with current cutting-edge text, video, two-way radio, and other voice communications.

Campuses are increasing their investments in surveillance and security technology. Unfortunately, these advancements alone do little to aid in an emergency.

Fortunately, there is a solution: Mutualink. As the only universally connectable Multimedia Interoperability Solution, Mutualink’s LNK360 hybrid cloud platform seamlessly integrates your existing security products with current cutting-edge text, video, two-way radio, and other voice communications.

In this interview, Campus Safety spoke with Mutualink Director of Marketing Jenna Lehning and Business Development Executive Bruce Montgomery on LNK360 and how hospitals, schools, and institutions of higher education can ensure first responders will arrive quickly when an emergency happens on campus.

CS: What is the top panic alarm/mobile duress system or app from your company, and what makes it special? How does it apply to healthcare facilities, schools and/or higher education security, public safety and/or emergency management?

Jenna Lehning and Bruce Montgomery: The Mutualink Panic Button System is called “LNK360.” Mutualink has a chameleon type of technology making LNK360 a best-in-class safety platform that creates interoperability to countless technologies. Our ability to fit into any environment and elevate vastly improved communication and situational awareness makes LNK360 special. We are the only safety technology company that brings the panic button alert into a complete law enforcement operational tool, making officers better and faster in their response.

The moment a “ANY” panic button is pressed, what does LYK360 do? This can be a Mutualink panic button or one provided by others such as RAVE or Raptor, for example.

  • Under two seconds, LNK360 generates an incident with notifications and actions based on a customer-built set of custom responses for various types of incidents.
  • With our patented technology, LNK360 can instantly connect police dispatch, police officer radios and cell phones with the onsite school/hospital team members who can provide immediate communication and details of what is happening at the incident. (Mutualink operates with hundreds of radio manufacturers already today, and we are camera and VMS agnostic.)
  • Simultaneously, Mutualink LNK360 can share live cameras closest to the panic button with floor plans, photos, video clips, data files/floor plans with responding police and fire and surrounding police agencies in the event of a major emergency.
  • Mutualink can also connect multiple agencies in our communication connection to aid in the numerous tasks needed to coordinate major incidents.
  • Because LNK360 is FERPA- and HIPAA-compliant and DHS Safety Act Certified, the home agency, such as a school or healthcare facility, has the ultimate control and can terminate the incident from any device to instantly stop the sharing of communication and information with any responder.

CS: What other products or offerings would you like to highlight, and what are some of their qualities and benefits?

Lehning/Montgomery: Mutualink has complete offerings built around the performance of the LNK360 from any PC/laptop or smartphone. Our ability to have interoperability with countless radio manufacturers allows Mutualink to be uncompromised in providing a service to all of our customers and not just those with a specific type of radio. Let’s face it: you may have to integrate with a wide variety of first responders, and the type of radio they carry should not be a barrier to the level of communication and protection your school is provided.

Mutualink is continually building our integration-interoperability options with common offerings, such as facial recognition, license plate recognition (LPR), and the latest video analytics on the market and that our customers are using.

CS: How do your company and its offerings address the needs of hospitals, schools and/or universities?

Lehning/Montgomery: Mutualink is a safety provider through a technology offering for a wide variety of customers. We have dozens of military veterans and former law enforcement leaders with decades of SWAT/tactical training and a detailed understanding of hospitals, schools and law enforcement operations. Mutualink has more than 10,000 public safety users, and has also been state mandated for use in Arizona for all schools and has been a best practice in hundreds of other schools. We have seen tremendous growth in healthcare markets and government customers in both state and federal agencies. Mutualink has a deep understanding of our customers, and we listen to our their needs and evolve our technology as those needs have changed over the years. Mutualink has never lost sight of understanding the importance of prioritizing the needs of our customers and knowing how to keep them safe.

CS: What else is new or noteworthy about your company for 2024?

Lehning/Montgomery: Mutualink is currently doubling the size of our sales, marketing and engineering teams to meet our future growth goals while being able to provide support to our growing customer base. Aside from technical support, we have seen an increased demand from our customers for digitization of building floor plans. There is no question that a digital floor plan makes first responders more effective and speedier by improving overall situational awareness. If we have a great interactive floor plan that can be shared with responding police and fire smartphones, they can respond faster and bring more safety to their response with fast and intuitive security camera access

CS: What is your company’s overall value proposition to schools, universities and/or hospitals? Why should they do business with you?

Lehning/Montgomery: Mutualink understands how to keep people safe in buildings and especially in schools, healthcare and public spaces. The Mutualink team is built on experienced first responders who have been in many of these same situations, and we have built a platform based on our experience and knowledge of cutting edge technology. We continue to grow and build upon our platform to make it a better product for our customers.

The idea that pressing a panic button alone is enough to make a school safe is simply not true. The panic button can be delayed by 4-7 minutes by services and alarm call centers. Many of the Mutualink team and our culture know exactly what 4-7 minutes means to the people who need a first responder immediately. None of us would be working here at Mutualink if we didn’t offer the best-in-class protection to our customers. mutualink.net
