Mutualink interoperability solution provides unprecedented levels of coordination between state agencies and local governments “to keep New Yorkers safe”
Wallingford, CT – New York Governor Cuomo’s newly-unveiled “NY Responds” provides advanced emergency management technology from Mutualink to every county in New York State, at no cost to them. With Mutualink’s interoperable communications solution, emergency officials across New York will be able to securely share real-time information with local governments and state agencies. Hundreds of agencies across the U.S. and the globe rely on Mutualink to improve communication and coordination, however, New York is among the first in the nation to implement the technology solution statewide.
How Mutualink Works:
- Mutualink integrates telephone, radio, video and file sharing into one interoperable application.
- The technology enables emergency managers and first responders to share information securely, seamlessly and in real time.
- The Mutualink GUI can be accessed via desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, providing interoperability wherever its users are.
“When disaster strikes, we must be able to respond quickly and effectively in order to keep New Yorkers safe,” said Governor Cuomo in an August 17 press release, referencing the State’s adoption of the Mutualink solution as part of New York’s NY Responds initiative. “Through NY Responds, every county in this state will have access to first-class emergency management technology, which will help both local and state officials stay as informed and coordinated as possible when responding to difficult situations. This is part of how we are building this state to be stronger and smarter than ever before.”

New York is already familiar with Mutualink’s capabilities and effectiveness, as the technology was deployed at 20 schools and local first responders in Oneida and Rockland counties in December 2014. The pilot program was implemented by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Interoperable and Emergency Communications, in conjunction with public safety agencies in each county.
